The domains

Taking a whole-of-TAFE approach means making sure actions and messages are reinforced across all areas of the TAFE. That’s why Respect and Equality in TAFE is framed around five key domains:

  • students
  • teaching and learning
  • workplace
  • communications
  • industry and community.

If TAFEs promote a culture of equality and respect across these areas, they can address the drivers of gender-based violence.

The process

The Respect and Equality in TAFE process walks you through the key steps you can take to assess your TAFE, identify priority areas and implement actions to embed gender equality. No two TAFEs are the same so it also allows you to select different initiatives or focus in different areas based on your specific circumstances. 

This process includes:

  • educating staff and leaders
  • undertaking a self-assessment across the five key domains
  • developing an action plan.

With these building blocks in place, you will be ready to implement change.
